AGM passed Jain Research Center and University proposal


Sri Jain Shwetambar Khartar Gachchh Sangh, Jaipur have passed proposal to start a  Jain Research Center and University  in their AGM, Annual general meeting held at Shivjiram Bhawan on December 23, 2012. Jyoti Kothari, secretary of the Sangh proposed the project in details. The proposal was discussed thoroughly in the meeting.

Secretary of the Khartar Sangh told that they had been working on the project since last two years and discussed it with experts from different walks of life. He informed that there is a good support to the educational project from reverend monks and nuns, statesmen, academicians and educationists and from common people at large.He added that there is no Jain University presently run by Shwetambart Jain community.

Large numbers of members present in the annual general meeting discussed the issue in details and finally passed it unanimously. It has been decided that the Sangh will strengthen present Jain research center and start working on establishing a Jain university.

A seven members standing committee is formed to look after the affairs of the project. This committee will be of permanent nature.  Names of the seven members of the committee are as follows:

1. Sri Surendra Golechha, Industrialist
2. Sri Kamal Chand Surana, Jeweller
3. Dr. Sagarmal Jain, Eminent Jain Scholar
4. Sri M L Mehta, former Chief secretary, Rajasthan
5. Dr. C S Barla, Professor of economics
6. Sri Surendra Bothra, Eminent Jain Scholar
7. Jyoti Kothari

The AGM has decided several routine issues such as passing the annual budget 2013-14, approving audited incime and expenditure account and balance sheet for year 2011-12, appointing auditor for the year 2013-14 etc.
